About Me
Hi, I'm Kim Taylor Blakemore.
Stories are my passion.
I love to write them, I love to edit them, I love to teach them.
As Kim Taylor Blakemore, my novels include the domestic thriller Far from Shore (in progress); historical thrillers After Alice Fell, The Companion, and The Deception (all for Lake Union Publishing), and young adult historical novels Bowery Girl and Cissy Funk. My love of the West and the fierce women who inhabit it are written as K.T. Blakemore and include The Good Time Girls, and The Good Time Girls Get Famous. I'm repped by Mark Gottlieb at Trident Meda Group.
Awards include a Killer Nashville Silver Falchion Award for Best Historical, Willa Literary Award for Best Young Adult Novel, Tucson Festival of Books Literary Award, and finalist for a Women’s Fiction Writers Star Award, Golden Crown Literary Society Award in General Fiction, New Mexico-Arizona Book Award, and Western Fictioneers Best 1st Western.
As a book coach and developmental editor, I specialize in historical fiction, historical mystery/suspense, contemporary domestic and psychological suspense, and women’s fiction. I founded Novelitics Writers Collective, which publishes an annual anthology and provides workshops and community to writers in the United States and Canada.
I have taught creative writing workshops in the US and UK both online and in person since 2010. I have taught with History Quill, Women's Fiction Writers Association, Sisters in Crime Chicagoland, Permian Basin Writers Conference, RWA's Kiss of Death, San Diego Writers and Editors Guild, and PDX Writers, among others. Workshops are experiential, with writing exercises and feedback focused on skills to strengthen prose and story.
